Many times throughout our lives we experience storms. Just like the weather, the storms in our lives vary greatly from light rain showers to category 5 hurricanes. In the midst of each storm, it always seems to us that there truly is no foreseeable end. But God is so merciful to remind us of what happened to Jesus and the disciples while traveling in a boat in Mark 4:35-41.
Mark 4:35 says Jesus said to his disciples "Let us pass over unto the other side." This verse not only sets the setting for the account of what took place but it also shows Jesus had every intent to cross over to the other side. This can also relate to our lives when we are hit by a storm and forget that God has brought us through storms before.
Why do we lose faith so quickly as if our problems or trials are bigger than the God we serve? The disciples demonstrated this lack of faith when they asked "...Master, carest thou not that we perish?" (found in Mark 4:38)
Remember Jesus truly did care for them just like he cares for us. We are reminded of this in Jeremiah 29:11 KJV "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end." So no matter the storm that you may be facing in your life, be encouraged by this story in addition to Mark 5:1 which confirms that Jesus and his disciples made it safely to the other side.
