Have you ever bitten off more than you could chew? Well lately, I have been trying to solve the puzzle of my own life to the point where it has consumed my time and attention along with my many other daily responsibilities. Yesterday during my morning routine, I felt the tugging from the Holy Spirit to spend time with God but I just could not bring myself to do it. The only thing I could bring myself to do was just vent to God about everything that was bothering me mixed in with a whole lot of tears like in Psalms 102:1. After regaining my composure, I came to the realization that I was overwhelmed.
Somewhere along the timeline of my life, I began to take on the role of lord instead of allowing God to do what He does best! Isaiah 64:8 KJV says "But now, O LORD, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand." This verse should serve as a reminder that God knows how to mold and transform our lives. All we have to do is let go! The Holy Spirit also showed me that I was acting a lot like Martha in Luke 10:38-42 KJV. In this passage, Martha got frustrated with her sister Mary for not helping her serve Jesus who came to their house for a visit. Mary, instead, chose to sit at Jesus' feet and listen to him speak. The part which spoke volumes to me was how Jesus responded to Martha in Luke 10:42 KJV which says "But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her." When the tugging came from the Holy Spirit, I should have sat at Jesus' feet. I should have chosen to study my Bible or listen to worship music or even just sit in prayer.
So if you are feeling like your life is packed to capacity, I want to leave you with some encouraging lyrics from one my favorite worship songs called Let Go by DeWayne Woods
As soon as I stop worrying
Worrying how the story ends
I'll let go and I let God
Let God have His way
That's when things start happening
I'll stop looking at back then
I let go and I'll let God have His way!
